The coach noticed Elene's talent immediately. When she was 10 years old the Georgian figure skating federation recommended to her parents to send the girl to Moscow for further trainings. It is well known, that there are much better conditions for trainings and sport career development there. Since 2000 year Elene trained in Moscow at the "CSKA" ice rink. Despite the place of her trainings she represents Georgia in all competitions.
At the age of 13 Elene had already become a winner of Georgia figure skating senior championships. Since 14 years old she has been taking part in senior international competitions.
In 2006 Olympic year Elene had made her debut in the most important international championships and showed amazing results. The next season 2006/2007 was very unfortunate for Elene. However, it wasn't her fault, it happened because of strained international relations between her native Georgia and Russia where she lived and trained at that time. Russian officials deported Elene's mother Maka Gedevanishvili to Georgia. Elene had to return home with her mother. Georgia met them solemly. Elene got an "Order of Honor", which is one of the highest rewards of the country for high sport achievements. Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili personally presented the reward to Elene.
Elene wanted a lot to turn back to Moscow and resume her trainings with her coach Elena Buianova, but Russian officials refused her to give a vise. Therefore Elene couldn't train and participate in competitions.
Elene had to leave her coach, because it was impossible to continue trainings in Moscow. The Georgian officials did not left the promising skater and financed her trainings in USA. In the end of 2006 she flew to America and started trainings with a new coach Galina Zmievskaya in Russian figure skating school in New-Jersey.
As a result of such kind of misfortunes, which happened with Elene in 2006, she missed most of tournaments, didn't trained enough and her results were quite low. She finished 8th at the European Championships and 17th at the World Championships. There were the only competitions in this season which she took part in. Exception was the Karl Schaefer Memorial, which she took part in at the beginning of the season with her previous coach Elena Buianova.
